Guardrails: We focus on small, non-permit tasks within California’s handyman limits. Work requiring permits or licensed trades (service-panel changes, new circuits, gas line mods, HVAC refrigerants, structural work, water heaters, sewer mains, large retaining walls, major roofing) is referred to licensed pros.

Your Path to Being Featured
1. Bring Your Own Tools & Transportation
Show up ready. No Uber rides — you’ll need reliable transport and the tools of your trade.
2. Complete a Paid Test Project
Either on Keith’s property (La Habra Heights) or at one of your active gigs — we’ll watch you in action on real tasks.
3. Be Filmed & Evaluated
We’ll document your work, communication, and professionalism with photos and video for your portfolio.
4. Build Your Digital Presence
We’ll transform footage into a clean, credible presence:
- Basic track: a one-page mini-site (ourlink.io) if you’re handling straightforward labor tasks and already have a basic site.
- High-demand track: if you’re testing repeatable, in-demand work (e.g., shed slabs/assembly), we’ll help build a simple multi-page site with your photos, contact info, and a short intro video.
- Local visibility: guidance on Google Business Profile, Yelp basics, and how to gather homeowner reviews ethically.
5. Get Featured
If you pass, you’ll earn a spot as a “Tested & Approved” professional on OC Handyman Services — trusted and visible.

Keith Bennett personally pays tradespeople an agreed-upon daily rate to test their skills in real-world tasks. These tests include not just craftsmanship, but also planning, site sketches, timeliness, and professionalism.
OC Handyman Services is not a contracting company and does not monetize this site. We never take referral fees or charge tradespeople to be listed. This is a passion project — a way of giving back by offering mentorship, visibility, and a stronger digital footprint at no cost.
If you pass, you leave with a clean, credible digital presence and the chance to be featured. If you don’t, you still get paid for your time. That’s the deal.
